This policy covers the website aienglishspeaking.app and the Two-Minute Speaking web app at app.aienglishspeaking.app, both operated by the founder of Two-Minute Speaking (“we”). It is written to be read, not skimmed; if anything is unclear, write to privacy@aienglishspeaking.app.
What we collect and why
Account details. An email address and a password hash, or a sign-in token from a provider you choose, so you can log in and recover your account.
Your learner profile. What you tell the app about your life for scenario generation (job, people, routines, places, goals), your chosen languages and English variant, your session schedule, and your placement level. This exists only to generate sessions that fit you.
Your speech and text answers. When you answer by voice, the audio is transcribed by a speech-recognition service and the transcript is sent, with your prompt, to an AI model to produce the correction. When you answer by text, the text goes through the same step. Audio is processed to produce the transcript and is not kept as a long-term recording archive; transcripts and corrections are kept as part of your learning history so the app can bring items back.
Your error ledger and progress. The named mistakes, their status, review dates, streaks and coins. This is the product.
Technical data. Device type, browser, approximate region from your IP address, crash and performance logs, and the pages you open on this website. Used to keep the service working and secure.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.
- We do not use your voice to train speech models. Providers we use are contractually restricted to processing on our behalf.
- We do not show your answers or your ledger to other learners.
- We do not run third-party advertising trackers on this website.
Who processes data for us
To run the service we rely on a small number of providers, each of which processes data only on our instructions: a hosting provider for the website and app, a speech-recognition and text-to-speech provider for voice, Anthropic’s Claude models for generating corrections and lessons, and a push-notification service for reminders you switch on. If we add a payment provider, it will handle card details directly and we will never see your full card number. We will update this page when the list changes.
How long we keep things
Your profile, ledger and learning history stay for as long as you have an account, because the app needs them to schedule reviews. Technical logs are kept for a limited period for security and debugging and then deleted. When you delete your account, your personal data is removed from live systems promptly and from backups on their normal rotation.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, export it, or delete it, and you can object to a particular use. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or a jurisdiction with similar rules, these are legal rights and we honour them as such; you can also complain to your local data-protection authority. To exercise any of them, email privacy@aienglishspeaking.app from the address on your account. We answer within 30 days.
Cookies and local storage
The app uses local storage and a session cookie to keep you signed in and to work offline where it can. This website uses the minimum cookies its platform needs to function and a privacy-respecting analytics setup that does not follow you across other sites. There is no advertising cookie to decline.
Children
The service is intended for adults and for learners aged 16 and over. If you believe a younger child has created an account, tell us and we will remove it.
Security
Data travels over encrypted connections and is stored with access limited to what the service needs. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach ever affects your data, we will tell you and the relevant authority without delay.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes in a way that matters, we update the date at the top and tell signed-in learners in the app. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the updated policy.
